Why I'm Here

I was born in Mexico and came to the US when I was a child and became an interpreter for my family and community. Since I was a child, I have been keenly aware of the barriers that many of us face throughout our lives to access the healthcare that we need to prevent and treat medical conditions, and to promote well being. I enjoy working with fellow advocates/leaders/visionaries to remove barriers and reimagine health. Connecting with people helps me build understanding, courage and strength to continue advocate in spite of challenges and harmful and dehumanizing rhetoric about "financial and budget pressures" as the reason to deny people healthcare coverage or racialized stereotypes used as excuses for lack of culturally appropriate/relevant healthcare services.

I would like to grow/develop

I am looking forward to learning and sharing about work that is happening across the country (and the world), and celebrating people. I also hope to build my understanding and confidence to speak about health justice in different spaces
